Clean Development Mechanism

VCL is targeting as one of the players in the CDM market in India. It provides a range of services such as awareness generation, capacity building among various industries and government agencies, conceptualization to registration and selling of CERs in the international market. In its CDM portfolio. VCL has made an MoU with GTZ i.e. German Development Corporation and working on Various CDM projects.

The services include working with project developers throughout the credit creation process, starting from the initial conceptualization and project assessment, continuing with the full project documentation, undertaking the entire formal approval processes and finally monitoring, verifying and successfully transacting the Certified Emission Reductions (CERs).

Typical CDM projects handled by us include, inter-alia

   Renewable Energy Projects like Biomass based power generation, Wind power generation and Hydro power generation and dispatch of power supply to the grid

   Energy / Efficiency improvement projects like replacement of old boilers by new boilers with higher efficiency, coal or oil fired power generation by a combined cycle power plant and conversion from open cycle to combined cycle power plant

   Energy efficiency projects like waste heat recovery, energy efficiency through steam generation process optimization and efficient utilization, replacement of old production technology by new technology and processes and change in product mix leading to lower consumption of fossil fuels

   Fuel switch like industrial fuel switching from coal and petroleum fuels to natural gas and partial replacement of fossil fuels by biomass as an alternative fuel in cement plants

   Methane capture projects like collection and combustion of Methane in landfills to produce electricity dispatched to the national grid and Methane capture and combustion to generate power

VCL associates itself with the project right from the preparation of Project Design Document (PDD) through the registration till the project gets Certified Emission Reductions (CERs). Our Services include

   Undertaking pre-feasibility study to evaluate the eligibility of the project for the CDM benefit

   Preparation of PDD with inputs from project proponent

   Extending required support in getting host country approval and during verification process

   Guidance in registering the project with UNFCCC

    Development/implementation of detailed monitoring plan (post validation)
